WE WERE THE FIRST …
NOW WE’RE TAKING OUR SYSTEM TO EVEN GREATER HEIGHTS!
The Newtreat Greywater Treatment System - a revolutionary greywater treatment system for houseboats and other vessels on inland waters – was invented in August, 1999. The unique system is protected by two Patents.
In September 2006, our system was the first to meet the South Australian Government’s Environment Protection Authority’s Standards for onboard greywater treatment discharge for vessels on South Australia’s inland waters. Testing was conducted by the Australian Water Quality Centre under National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) Guidelines.
The Newtreat system is revolutionary because it not only treats laundry and bathroom greywater… it also treats greywater generated in rivercraft galleys and kitchens.
Since December, 2007 the Environment Protection Authority (South Australia) has been conducting rigorous, ongoing testing and evaluation prior to making containment - or treatment - of greywater created by vessels on inland waters in South Australia compulsory.
EPA (SA) Legislation requires that for the management of greywater, vessel operators are required to observe the following compliance dates:
- 1st January, 2009 for all newly constructed vessels
- 1st January, 2010 for existing commercial vessels in survey and those that are permanently occupied.
- 1st January 2011 for all other vessels.
Newtreat has worked closely with the EPA, and vessel owners, throughout this rigorous testing and evaluation phase and, as a result, will soon launch the “NEWTREAT SUPER SYSTEM” – a second generation treatment system.
The NEWTREAT SUPER SYSTEM is being finalised with the assistance of a “COMET” GRANT provided by the Australian Government.
The Australian Government’s Grant has enabled Newtreat to undertake product reviews ensuring the design and functionality of the system is optimised, while also developing a volume manufacturing strategy.
